Parent Aid/Homemaker

Job Description

The Parent Aid/Homemaker role provides in-home support and assistance to families, focusing on enhancing parenting skills, household management, and overall family functioning. This role involves working closely with parents and children to ensure a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. The Parent Aid/Homemaker helps families develop practical skills, access community resources, and implement effective parenting strategies. The position requires a compassionate, patient individual who can build trusting relationships with families and work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Family Support:
    • Assist and educate parents in developing and strengthening parenting skills, including discipline, communication, and nurturing.
    • Provide guidance on effective household management, such as budgeting, meal planning, and organizing.
    • Support parents in creating and maintaining a safe and clean home environment.
    • Help families establish and maintain daily routines and schedules.
  2. Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and other collaborative efforts.
    • Advocate for clients’ needs and provide referrals to additional services when appropriate.
  3. Documentation and Compliance:
    • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with agency policies and professional standards.
    • Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
    • Participate in regular supervision.
    • Must attend monthly training to maintain skills and stay updated with industry practices.
  4. Professional Development:
    • Stay informed about best practices in family support and parenting education.
    • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
    • Adhere to ethical standards and maintain professional boundaries.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or education in social services, child development, or a related field preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
    • Organizational and time management abilities.
    • Basic knowledge of child development and parenting strategies.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Reliable internet connection.
    • Willingness to travel for home visits.
    • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
    • Background check clearance.
    • Must be 21+
