Job Description
The Parent Aid/Homemaker role provides in-home support and assistance to families, focusing on enhancing parenting skills, household management, and overall family functioning. This role involves working closely with parents and children to ensure a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. The Parent Aid/Homemaker helps families develop practical skills, access community resources, and implement effective parenting strategies. The position requires a compassionate, patient individual who can build trusting relationships with families and work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Family Support:
- Assist and educate parents in developing and strengthening parenting skills, including discipline, communication, and nurturing.
- Provide guidance on effective household management, such as budgeting, meal planning, and organizing.
- Support parents in creating and maintaining a safe and clean home environment.
- Help families establish and maintain daily routines and schedules.
- Collaboration and Coordination:
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and other collaborative efforts.
- Advocate for clients’ needs and provide referrals to additional services when appropriate.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with agency policies and professional standards.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in regular supervision.
- Must attend monthly training to maintain skills and stay updated with industry practices.
- Professional Development:
- Stay informed about best practices in family support and parenting education.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to ethical standards and maintain professional boundaries.
Qualifications
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or education in social services, child development, or a related field preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
- Organizational and time management abilities.
- Basic knowledge of child development and parenting strategies.
- Other Requirements:
- Reliable internet connection.
- Willingness to travel for home visits.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Background check clearance.
- Must be 21+
